Kumul Minerals Holdings Limited (KMHL) joined government leaders, industry colleagues, landowners, and representatives from the business sector to celebrate the country’s legacy, progress, and future in the resource sector at the 2025 Papua New Guinea Resources Week, hosted by the PNG Chamber of Resources and Energy (PNG CORE). Held from 28–30 July at APEC Haus, Port Moresby, the week-long program provided an avenue to share ideas and talk about how to shape the future of PNG’s resources sectors.
As a Platinum Sponsor of the Community Affairs and National Content Conference and Exhibition (CANCONEX), KMHL’s presence reflected its commitment to national content and long-term value creation for PNG.
KMHL’s participation included:
· Attendance at the PNG Resources Summit, where Managing Director Sarimu Kanu shared key updates on KMHL’s operational performance and strategic growth initiatives.
· Presentation at the CANCONEX by the Manager- Porgera and Gold Portfolio, Benjamin Ketegu, on the national Gold Refinery Project which will be built to the highest Environmental, Social and Governance standards.
· Hosting interactive sessions at the booth, attracting many visitors and fostering meaningful discussions on responsible development and national ownership.
· Active involvement in the PNG Women in Resources and Energy launch, supporting inclusion, empowerment, and leadership opportunities for women in the industry. General Manager – Corporate Services Cathy Magalu participated in a panel discussion calling for women’s increased participation in leadership roles and addressing barriers to gender equity in the workplace.
· Involvement in the PNG CORE Career Fair through the Golden Grand Exhibition, Ms Magalu engaged with students from the Pacific Adventist University sharing her personal journey from university to workforce and provided career advice to inspire the next generation of PNG resource leaders.
· A team presence at the PNG CORE Charity Golf Day, demonstrating KMHL’s ongoing support for community-driven initiatives and social investment.
Managing Director Mr Kanu said, “PNG Resources Week is more than an industry gathering — it’s a medium for national progress. KMHL was honoured to join partners across
government, business, and community as we shape a resources sector that reflects the aspirations of our people.”
Mr Kanu emphasised KMHL’s focus on creating long-term partnerships that drive growth and innovation.
